How about inviting someone to the NWRS holiday concert

Few things are more exciting to us than to see dozens of hands go up when we ask how many are attending a Northwest Repertory Singers concert for the first time.

Won’t you help us with our holiday excitement by inviting friends to one of our upcoming holiday concerts – either 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 19, or 3 p.m. Sunday, December 20?

If you couple the concert with a dinner out, or an invitation to your home afterwards, you’ve got the makings of a great holiday event. And you’ve helped us spread the word about Northwest Repertory Singers (NWRS), a Tacoma-based vocal ensemble of 60 men and women now in its ninth season.

Friends attending for the first time may soon join others who have said things like this after a concert: “Great performance!” “Fabulous music!” “Wow!” and “This has been a most wonderful first experience with your choir.”

North American ChristmasNWRS presents “A North American Christmas” at our concert venue, Mason United Methodist Church in Tacoma’s Proctor District. The repertoire for this 1½-hour concert will include music from Mexico and Canada, and a wide array of American carols. The concert concludes with Daniel Pinkham’s glorious Christmas Cantata with brass ensemble and organ.

More information about our holiday performances, plus lots of other information about NWRS, including a “listening room,” is available on our newly redesigned Web site at www.NWRS.org. Ticket information is there, as well.

We hope to see you – and your friends! – at “A North American Christmas.”

Here’s what else is coming up this season from NWRS

In addition to our holiday concert, the NWRS season includes two other exciting concerts:

NWRS at the Opera with Rainier Family Opera Company

“NWRS at the Opera,” 7:30 p.m. March 13.
We join with the Rainier Family Opera Company for a night of scenes and choruses from some of the most revered operas. Highlights include music from Lucia di Lammermoor and L’ Eliser d’Amore (Donizetti), Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni), La Traviata (Verdi), and Candide (Bernstein).

Choral Gems from France

“Choral Gems from France,” 7:30 p.m. May 22.
We are accompanied by Northwest Sinfonietta as we present an evening of French music, including works by Debussy, Ravel and Duruflé. The concert will conclude with Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.

We would encourage our regular guests to consider inviting friends new to NWRS to these concerts.

Thank you for your interest and support of NWRS, whose mission is to enrich and educate the Northwest community through the promotion and development of choral music.
