This beautiful season of the year is a perfect time to share music expressing peace in our troubled world.  Our concert will include sacred settings of Latin texts, music focusing on the beauty of winter in the Pacific Northwest, and a variety of both tender and spirited arrangements of seasonal songs.   The finale will include the audience joining Northwest Repertory Singers to sing some of our favorite carols.

Northwest Repertory Singers join the critically acclaimed Northwest Sinfonietta in performing one of the greatest works in the standard repertoire: Beethoven’s Symphony #9. The concert will also include Beethoven’s cantata, Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, Op. 112, and a special presentation from Christophe Chagnard, “The making of a masterpiece.”

Northwest Repertory Singers will be participating in the Third Annual Leavenworth Choral Festival on April 12, 2008 in Leavenworth, Washington. In addition to performing selected pieces, our Artistic Director, Dr. Paul Schultz, is the featured guest conductor and will conducting a massed choir of over 200 voices.

Past Life Melodies - Tickets On Sale Now!

This concert is a collaboration with the Tacoma Youth Chorus, Judith Herrington and George Guenther, conductors.  Our 2006 collaboration with this marvelous organization was so rewarding that we couldn’t wait to share our music once again.  The musical theme of the evening is music from our past: folk songs, spirituals, hymns, and tunes that remind us of our youth and journey through life.  Each ensemble will present an individual set of pieces and then all singers will combine for a finish you will not want to miss.  Highlights include music from Aboriginal chant, harmonic overtone singing, and the artistic blending of an Estonian folk song and an American spiritual.
